Cancer is malignant and still today, it is treated as a serious disease. Even today, 100% success is not guaranteed. We will try to figure out the Ayurved approach towards cancer.

Unlike any other systems, in Ayurved, prime importance is given to the physical, emotional and spiritual status of the patient.

In Ayurved, the disease is treated as an unwanted hindrance in the flow of the vital energy or prana in various channels of the body. In qigong it is called and imbalance between the Yin and Yang forms of energy. The root cause is the imbalance or the obstacle in the flow of prana in merdians due to either internal or external factor.

A simple internal cause may be the over eating, or additional stress, or even smoking or drinking. Externally the reason may be formulated as environment, it’s drastic change, pollution etc. Whatever the reason may be it disturbs the normal flow of prana inside the body.

So, in Ayurved, the cancer is not treated as an isolated disease, rather the root cause is analyzed and then accordingly the medicine or therapy is applied. That’s the reason, why Ayurved physicians focuses much more on pulse bit and syndromes, and tries to delve into the history of the patient, rather than prescribing the medicines based on symptoms only.

Even in case of cancer, it largely depends upon analyzing the root cause and tries to find out the staging of cancer. The best part is that in Ayurved, dedicated research institutes have been formed in various part of the world to find the decay. Athulya Ayurvedic Medical Research Centre (AAMRC), Calicut India has been working on cancer research and also providing therapy to the unfortunate cancer patients and their success ratio is quiet encouraging. Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust, engaged with ‘Ayurved for Cancer’ for more than a decade, have organized multiple International events about “Ayurved for Cancer”.

Every mother cajoles her kid with the myth, sun shines in the east and there starts the environmental education of a kid, mostly unknowingly.

We live in a world, where change is the only constant factor in all aspects of life starting from technological fronts and ending with the economic scenario, but still Sun shines in the east only!

The unanimous love and affection of a mother to her son can be compared with the ever-filial blessings from the Sun to the inhabitants of the planet. Whether Shane Warne declares his retirement or paparazzi hound Princess Diana, the Sun shines and radiates its energy irrespective of the environment and political dilemma.

The greedy mind of human beings lured by instant gain, at times create obstacles in the stratosphere to restrain us from getting the direct rays from the Sun, as a result, the energy level of the inhabitants’ decreases.

Scientifically, it has been proved that the rays of Sun energize the cells of the body. Irrespective of the biological jargons like Vitamin D or A, we realize that Sun generates heat energy.

Even Science has never opposed the spontaneous natural source of energy gifted by nature in the form of Sun, Wind and Water. People at different times have admired the value of the Sun. Like someone enthusiastic travel expert has said, “Living on Earth may be expensive, but it includes an annual free trip around the Sun.”

The modernization and rat race competitions have forced people to use artificial ways of energizing body and mind in the form of vitamin tonic or erotic story/ gossips.

One must be apprehensive about the sudden boost in energy level (like Alcohol) which has got a wide spread detrimental effect in the long run.

Polluted Environment, more importantly a diverted mindset triggered by the lucrative glamorous world mostly diverts the young mind from its root objective.

The Vedic civilization used to define different stages of life with stringent criteria namely Brahmacharya, Garhasthya, Banaprashtha, Sannyas, where every walk of life has been predefined having an underlying meaning.

The undoubted fact of life is that in this modern age, its just next to impossible to follow them holistically as the world changes fast and there is no point of staying aloof from the world and its surroundings. Rather a contemporary methodology needs to be devised.

However, Sun shines and remains as a tireless warehouse of energy.

If you observe more closely you will find it’s surrounding hallo as shown in the pictures of the Holy ones. Primitive ways of treatment used to believe in aura, the similar energy levels of every human being. The imbalance between the aura of a human being and the nature causes diseases and the recovery procedure is to draw the deficit energy from Sun to reestablish the balance again.

The world of Prana, Chi or Qee primarily emphasizes on the balancing factor and the doctor takes the challenge of channel sing the external energy to the human body to reestablish the synchronization.

The question however remains as to how to gain energy directly from the Sun, when even to glance at it is so difficult with the naked eye.

A simple procedure is perhaps to form a shape of a convex lens just by your fingers and throw a glance and immediately after that close your eyes to store and channelise the gained energy through the meridians to several energy points of the body, to keep a balance between Yin and Yang, the two opposite energies residing in the body.

To conclude lets quote Anna Lee, “Remember even though the outside world might be raining, if you keep on smiling the sun will soon show its face and smile back at you.”

The Ayurveda or most of the cherished practices of ancient therapies used to evaluate the vitality factor of the diseased patient before diagnosis and then found out the root cause of the abnormalities.

The diagnosis and treatment used to be followed based on the conclusions arrived from the above analysis.

The bridge between the yogic therapy and the scientific observations have been clearly portrayed in the famous book “The Body, Self-Cultivation and Ki-Energy” by Yuasa Yasuo that raises the vital question “Can East Asia make any significant contribution towards tackling this grave issue?”.

Even without going to the details of the book, we can demand that the eastern Asia could show the path of cultivating internal energy and off late the western world has started nurturing and refining them

The inception might be in Chinese therapy, but it plays a significant role in all ancient recovery procedures including Ayurved.

Now what are yin and yang? These are simply two opposite energies residing in the body. Yin and yang may be considered as female and male, summer and winter, earth and heaven, cold and hot, cathode and anode – or any such paradox.

Keep in mind that for any electrical flow there must exist positive and negative points. Ayurved has been continuously putting stress on an electrical flow inside the body.

The principle is a proper balance between yin and yang inside the body gives you the complete relaxed mindset to produce and enhance your energy level for any activity. Similarly an improper balance of yin and yang causes all sorts of disorders or ailments in your body and mind.

The primitive people used to believe in two separate flows inside the body by two main functionaries heart and lung. 1) Heart pumps blood that smoothly flows through veins, arteries and capillaries. 2) Prana – the life force a powerful energy flows to the meridians, which is pumped by the lungs.

Here we want to state that concept of internal energy is not new in the world of physicians of the primitive age. There are several civilizations, which have inculcated and nurtured the concept of the internal energy level or life forces.

If we try to find out the parallel concepts we need to delve into the several contemporary civilization.

In China the internal energy used to be referred as Ki. The Hebrew traditions used to believe in nefesh while the Japanese used to call this as Ki. Even it had been practiced vividly in Asian countries like Burma and Tibet.

Whatever the name may be or whatever the way it might be practiced, most of the ancient civilizations used to acknowledge the inner energy flow of the body.

If we want to get into the root of all energies, we need to look at the Sun. Sun, which not only radiates energy, but works as a symbol of bringing holistic light in our lives.

Most of the ancient people used to believe that every human body is a universe in a smaller scale and the properties and governing rule remain same inside the human body also.

They used to believe that such a solar system exists inside the body, which radiates energy for all our activities If we shift our focus to the nature, we can find plants, which could never live without the energy radiated by the Sun. Similarly, every human being has been continuously striving to harmonize the internal and external energy levels even without knowing as this is done by the internal mechanism, of which most of the human beings are now even aware. The mismatch creates disorders, it may be mental or physical or even both. If we want to compare with the Sun, any human being also radiates energy called the aura; the magnitude is definitely much lower than the Sun, but again it cannot be ignored.
